Adorning in April #29: LJ Reversible Tights

Ahhhh the Lorna Jane obsession is real..... and continually growing!
I really had no choice in the matter though when they released this pair of tights - reversible 7/8 tights with one side being navy and the other hot pink?!?! Its like they entered my mind, figured out my perfect pair of workout tights and then boom - here they are!
Plus I got them on a 20% off day.....then you half that as they are two pairs in one.... so really I paid like $30 for each side.... that makes perfect sense right?! Ahhh the things I will tell myself.
~
Anyway, I wanted to share this workout outfit with you all, as I'm sure if your anything like me these may be a must have for you too!
~
You can wear them in 4 different styles by rolling the waist band down and leg part up giving a contrast panel. I figured these may just be the perfect pair of tights to take travelling; less space to take up as they are two in one, a bright colour for the days you want to stand out or have a plain top on and a basic navy for the days you don't want to scream 'hey look at my tights' or perhaps your wearing a top that does that already so you need tights that are a little more low key.
~
Anywho enough with my rambling, I am typing like a crazy woman; I've had the busiest day and am a little
'la la' at the moment!
~
I hope you've had a great day full of things that made you smile; top three things that made me smile today were:
1: seeing a smart car on the drive into work - they are just so tiny I can't help but giggle every time i see one!
2: Cuddling a baby - is there anything better?
3: A quote my yoga teacher said tonight in class 'push your boundaries - intelligently and with kindness' that really resonated with me so I'm using it as my mantra this week!
~
See you tomorrow!
xoxo

I had a bit of fun racing around and playing with the shutter speeds on my camera lol

Adorning in April #15: Fluro Fitness Obsessed

Hi all, welcome back!
Today I wanted to share with you an obsession that I am just not kicking anytime soon -
fluro active wear.
I am literally obsessed, the brighter, bolder, more out there in colour; is direct correspondence to how badly I want it!
Fluro was a trend that was happening last summer in clothing, fashion and fitness alike, whilst I think it may be on the way out fashion wise; it is for sure still alive and well in the workout world
(at least it certainly is for me haha).
I wanted to share with you today my current favourite fluro workout outfit. Fair warning there are a lot of photos! I had fun with this mucking around jumping and running that I ended up getting a mini workout in! tehehe.
The  LJ tights are by far the brightest (even brighter in person) and they were a gift from my bf last week for our anniversary (I know, I've got myself a keeper!). The crop is from Lorna Jane also and the tee is Forever21. Paired with bright socks from Russell and my much loved Asics Runners this outfit is motivation in itself! Having bright fun workout wear honestly is half the motivation I need to get up and go each day. I hope you enjoy the post, what is your favourite items to workout in?

I hope you enjoyed this workout OOTD, I find the most effective way to get a great workout in is to be comfortable, happy and motivated in what your wearing! If you know that what you've got on isn't going to budge, is holding everything in place and performs it's functions as it says (i.e., climate-light) then adding in brightness brings the fun into a workout!
~
My number one workout tip: don't forget to have fun with it! Working out doesn't have to be a pain or a drag, if you bring a positive frame of mind to it and play like you did as a kid you'll find the time passes so quickly!

Adorning in April #7: Lorna Jane Reward

Happy Monday to you all! Who is ready for another amazing week?
Even though I often have weeks where nothing in particular happens and its just my usual type of week, I always try to make sure I am enjoying each part of the day so I can look back and be able to say 'yes I am consistently happy' I know that if I don't feel like I can say that then I need to look into each part of my life to find what needs to change!
~
Anyway that's completely off topic! This post is all about my newest addition to my workout wardrobe
(yes that's a thing).
Last month I used my beloved Lorna Jane Diary and completed the March Ab Challenge. And it was certainly a challenge! It ended on the 31st with 85 leg lifts, 90 sit ups and a 2min 30sec plank! Ouch! I actually was lucky enough to convince my bf to do it with me which made it 100% easier having someone next to me who was feeling the pain too! (a good pain though). At the start of the month when I asked him if he really would do it with me I went through the challenge page and put squares next to each day for us both so we could tick them off each day as we did them (anyone else find a huge sense of achievement in doing this?) I also thought it would be good to give us a reward if we managed to do each and every day. The reward was $50 each to spend out on a date night.
So we managed to complete the challenge (whoop woo!) and I don't think it should be any shock as to what I chose to purchase....Lorna Jane of course!
~
I got myself another sports bra, because honestly I find them to be the very best. I have a pink once which I have owned for over 6 years now and it is still in perfect condition! Plus if you are not graced to have a larger chest *cough cough* then the padding within these bras is put to two great uses; 1: it is supportive and 2: it makes you appear to not have a flat chest lol. Win!
~
Mass amounts of pictures below - I also only realized right at the end of taking pics that I hadn't actually ticked that we had completed the challenge haha - I did right at the end though!

I love the smaller details that are put into each LJ piece, like this inspirational tag and the mini heart below which graces every piece somewhere!

Ahhh nothing quite like that sense of achievement within a tick!

This sports bra cost $66 and can be found HERE!
I am aware that this is quite pricey for such a small item, as is most LJ items however I truly believe they are worth their weight in gold! Workout clothes that help to motivate me, make workouts fun, make me excited to get dressed in them at 5.45am and feel fashionable are most defiantly worth it! Plus the quality in each piece is just brilliant, I have many items that I've had for years and years and they are still in the same condition as the day I bought them. So whilst it may seem steep at the time of purchase, by the time you workout cost per wear I think you'll find yourself in profit haha, at least that's what I tell myself.
~
How do you reward your achievements? Shopping addict like me or something else like a massage or getting your nails done? Let me know!
~
Oh and my bf's reward of choice was a bunch of DVDs for us to watch lol!
Have a great day

What I Wore: Yoga Workout

Hello all, hope you are well ♥

Here we have an outfit post of what I wore to my yoga class last week. I have just gotten back into yoga and am absolutely loving it! It’s the perfect way to stretch out the body, lengthen the spine and help tone muscles. But even more important than all that is the mental and spiritual 'fitness' that you can gain from a yoga class. It really helps to de-clutter your mind, calm you down, eliminate stress and go a bit 'Zen' for 1 1/2 hours. I ♥ ♥ ♥ it! It’s the perfect addition to an active lifestyle to help balance everything out!

~

After my class I was feeling all Zen and centred when I thought that there may be people out there wanting to try yoga but not sure what to wear! There are a few factors to consider so I hope this post helps!
~

First up and one of the best things is you go barefoot! No need for wiz bang boo shoes here ladies, so thongs are a goer for me, easy to slip off and simple to grab and go
~
For the bottom half I like to go with three-quarter tights in summer or if you’re in winter go for full length. I think that they can be tight or loose, whatever you find more comfortable. I wouldn’t opt for loose shorts though, as some moves you have your legs up in the air and I know that I don’t particularly want to be showing off ALL of my legs to an entire class if you catch my drift!
~

Top half I actually recommend you opt for a tighter form fitting top - be it tank or tee or long sleeve. When you wear a loose top downward dog with your head down and your butt up in the air makes that top cover your face - not comfy and not a good look with it rolling up your back about to come off!

Tighter tops won’t move around so you can focus on the movement, not moving your tee off your face! Sports bra wise, I just like to wear a sports bra for comfort, but you needn’t worry too much about support as there is no HIIT intervals here, just one that fits you well is best

~

Accessories wise, I recommend a head band if you've got longer hair or a fringe. I always want my hair away from my face so I pull it into a top bun and then a headband to get those pesky fine hairs away. Lots of studios have fans or cooling on also, and I hate when trying to be Zen and meditating having those fly-aways tickle my face!

Then I always recommend you have a water bottle, yoga class or not! I think my water bottle and I are in a serious relationship, it comes everywhere with me. Water is my best addiction yet, so find yourself a cute water bottle and keep it by your side! Cotton On Body have a tone of nice ones ♥
~

Finally, most yoga studios will have matts there for you to use, some will charge you extra - some are included in the class fee. Either way you do need one, I would say give yoga a go for a few classes to see if it’s something you think you’re going to want to do often, and then if it is invest in your own matt. Mine is from Lorna Jane and I love it, its super thick and soft but you can grip into it so there are no awkward slips during those balancing moves! They don’t advertise the matts online for some reason, but they are in the stores
~

And there we have it, my guide to what to wear for yoga.

Do you do yoga? What do you wear?

My MORE Mantra

Hello all, I hope you are all well and having a great week!
Today I have a post all about my MORE mantra. Aka ~ how do I get MORE out of each day? If you're an Aussie girl like me then you will know all about Lorna Jane and her amazing active wear, and even if your not an Aussie I'm sure you know of her. Here is the link to her active wear site: LINK!

Banner_MNB270613_1

Lorna Jane also has another website, which is the Move Nourish Believe Website - LINK! Here it is focused on healthy recipes, great workouts, motivational posts and MORE!
~
So this blog post today is a way for us Lorna Jane obsessive's to get involved with the launch of LJ's new book:

~MORE of the fit womans secrets~

Here are my Five Ways  I Extract MORE out of each day:

1: Morning Booty Call!

What's a morning booty call I hear you ask? Well no it is not what you think it is! It is when you get up 30 minutes before you normally would to walk/run/ride away from your house for 15 minutes, turn around and come right back! This term and idea is from the lovely ladies at Tone It Up - LINK!

I am a TIU member and follow along with their lifestyle along with Lorna Jane's MNB (post on TIU to come!), so with the two combined I am finding myself to be in the healthiest, strongest, happiest state I've ever been in!

~

Tights: LJ - LINK!
Shoes: Assics - LINK!

Back to that bootycall! I do this 2-4 times a week, and I run down to the lake near my place and WOW let me tell you that by doing this I am getting so much MORE energy out of my day! At first I thought it was pure crazy to get up at 5.45am to go run in the dark ~ I mean why would I when I can sleep? Well I decided to do it anyway and this has formed into a habit that I love. Yes it is hard to roll out of bed, but once i'm out the fresh air makes me instantly awake, the endorphins i get make my day start on such a positive note, and I've found the days I do get that bootycall in I'm more awake and alert than the days I dont!
~
By getting in my 30minute cardio fix I start my day right, then no matter what else comes up in that day I know i've gotten some exercise in! Plus an added bonus is the realisation of how much I truly love nature ~ the effect fresh air and natural beauty can have on you will amaze you I promise!

2: Errands App on my phone

The second way I get MORE out of my day is by using technology to my advantage! I have an App called Errands that is on my phone (added bonus, its free!), and it's here that I put in every workout, every meeting, every catch up with friends and even just scheduled time to relax!

Errands App - Top left hand corner!

I have specific folders in the app, a work one, a social one, a task one, an exercise one, a loved ones one and a Tone It Up one! In each I then enter in what I know I need to do for the week, things I want to do and sort out my workouts for the week too. The above workouts are from TIU, they post on their blog weekly workout schedules and i love sticking to them!

You can view it monthly or by folder, and each day as I get tasks done, i tick them off. This has been 100% the best way to keep myself accountable, and I'm getting so much MORE done each day when I have it set out with a plan of attack. Keeping myself accountable makes me fit in those workouts, ensures im getting enough time with friends and family and i really get a thrill out of ticking them off when they are done!

3: Sunday Funday - Meal prep

My third way to get MORE from each day is to PREP PREP PREP! When it comes to my meals, I make sure to take some time each week, usually a Sunday afternoon; to plan out what lunches and snacks I want for the week. I change it up each week so i'm never board of what I'm eating. By doing this, i'm making healthy wholesome, delish food every week and I know I have something to eat each day at work. There is no longer that 5 minute rush before running out the door late for work with no food, grabbing snack bars or nothing at all! Now I happily have it all packed up in the fridge and freezer and i can just grab out my lunch and pick from 2-3 different types of snacks, pure bliss I tell you! The amount of stress that is elevated from my week by doing this is astounding! I actually look forward to Sunday afternoons, and cooking is now a hobby of mine! Each week I look for new recipes to try, and pick out different snacks to make - healthy black bean brownies? ahhhh yes and yummmm! By taking a few hours once a week, I get so much MORE out of the rest of my week with less stress and more time each night to relax and spend time with my love instead of worrying about what we have in the house that i can use for lunch!

4: Gratitude book

My 4th way of getting MORE is by taking the time to stop and actually acknowledge how many amazing things I already have in my day to day life. This gratitude book has been such a gift for me. It is a diary that you jot down 3 things that you are grateful for that day and then there is space for notes if you want to expand on it.
By using this diary, I now look for the good in each day, I notice the little things and I really appreciate the important people in my life. I jot down the smallest of things like seeing a baby swan try and fly, to having a great conversation with a customer, to the big things like going to the Australian Open with my Mum, or when my boyfriend takes the time to do something sweet for me like take me out for dinner or cover a wall in post it notes. It makes me stop and appreciate all the good moments in each and every day no matter how big or small. Its making my life so much MORE enriching and positive.

5: Taking in the moment

My final thing that I do that gives me MORE out of each day is actually just stopping and allowing myself to be entirely in the moment. By doing the other 4 things, I have that time everyday to spend MORE time with the people i love, and instead of forward thinking about what else i need to get done, i can really stop and take in each moment as it happens and truly LIVE in the moment with no stress or worry! I think by ensuring I'm organised, prepared, thinking positively and moving my body I'm allowing myself to really be in each moment. I don't stress about what I need to be doing each day and I don't feel like im wasting any time in anything I do!

So there you have it! My mightily long post on how I'm getting MORE from each and everyday, and overall just really living and loving my life!
~
Please let me know if you enjoyed this post, because I think I will start doing some more lifestyle / food / workout posts from now on!
~
And tell me, how do you get MORE out of your day?
xoxo
