My Ultimate Breakfast

Why hello there,
Today I am sharing with you my most favorite breakfast of all time...ever. Protein Pancakes are a strong second, and some days an equal first; but my heart belongs to this breakfast purely because I can make it quicker than protein pancakes! Which means this is my Monday-Friday first choice then the Protein Pancakes go perfectly with weekend relaxing. It's truly a win win I tell you.
Oh and if your not sure what I'm on about when I say Protein Pancakes, read THIS!
~
Ok so my love of breakfast was a slow growing thing. Growing up I absolutely hated having to eat breakfast, in fact there were often mornings where I would get up earlier than Mum, go to the kitchen and put some milk in a bowl with a spoon and then leave it in the sink so it looked like I'd eaten ... how bad is that!?!
(Sorry Mum!)
It was around the time I was 16 when I started to be a lot more interested in health and fitness (really I was just a young girl wishing she had abs haha) so I did start to eat breakfast. It was your typical cereals or toast, nothing that exciting so I didn't really enjoy it all that much. Fast forward to me moving out of home and deciding that my health and body were highly important to me if I wanted to live a long and happy life and that now I lived without the comfort of my parents it was something I needed to focus on, therefore I realized breakfast was truly the most important meal of the day. I read a lot about what's the perfect thing to eat first thing in the morning but found it hard to incorporate all the different elements such as healthy fats, protein, fruits, carbs etc. However, slowly but surly as I researched, found foods I really liked and combined so that now I have managed to find my ultimate breakfast! It's honestly got it all and its so tasty that I am always happy to wake up in the morning because I know I have this amazing taste-bud pumping meal to enjoy. Most mornings I get up and immediately go for a run, which means when I am about halfway back home I get excited at the thought that I can eat breakfast soon!
I try to have my first meal of the day as my biggest meal, and then have 2 small snacks and 2 medium size meals for the rest of the day. Starting off with a big filling breakfast gets me going for the day, keeps me full until mid morning and gives me the energy I need to really start my day with some force!
~
As you'll be able to see by the extensive photos below - I am addicted! Read on to see exactly whats in this amazing bowl of goodness.

Ingredients: Here is what I have in it 90% of the time, the other 10% of the time I will vary the fruits I put on-top depending on the season.

Kamut Puffs: these little puffs are ancient grains that have a nutty flavour to them. they are easier to digest compared to other wheats and contain a higher amount of protein! I like to think of them as Rice Crispies older, bigger and healthier sister!

Walnuts: I use about a handful and smash them up into small pieces. Walnuts have anti-inflammatory benefits along with a high dose of omega 3 fats which are perfect to start the day off with

Chia Seeds: these teeny tiny little seeds contain a high amount of essential fatty acids which help to speed up your metabolism and help your muscles to recover. Plus they also become a gel consistency when liquid is added to them!

Cinnamon: this spice helps to regulate your blood sugar levels which helps to maintain your energy during the day. It also helps to kick your metabolism into high gear - and I'm addicted to the flavour!

Honey: ahhh the sweet stuff, yep I do just like adding this for that extra sweet taste to my breakfast but it is also jam packed with antioxidants which help protect your immune system!

Greek Yogurt: filled with protein and calcium and helpful for your guy, greek yoghurt is the perfect alternative to yoghurt, and it makes my breakfast stick together once I blend it all up

Strawberries: other than just tasting amazing, strawberries are packed with antioxidants and vitamin C, which is a perfect combo to give you glowing skin

Passion-fruit: obsessed is a word I use lightly with my addiction to passionfruit, it is true love I tell you! It is full of Vitamin A and C which helps with eyesight and soft skin so its a definite win!

~
There you have it! My most favourite breakfast and for all the right reasons! Let me know if you give this delight a go and what you think of it! What is your go to breakfast?
xoxo

What I Wore: Hot Summers Day

Hello there, today here I have an outfit of the day, one from a very hot one!
We've been having a heatwave here in Australia the last few weeks so on weekends I've been trying to pull apart my wardrobe to find the coolest things to wear! This one served me well with the top opening at the back and being crotchet style. The shorts are loose and really light which is a thumbs up from me!

HFB Green Smoothie

Today I have another review for the Her Fashion Box December Edition and I thought I'd better get this out there before my January box rolls around!  Instead of showing all the items that appeared in the December box I decided this month to do reviews on a few of the products that took my interest the most. If your not sure what I'm going on about when I say Her Fashion Box, read my post all about it HERE!

I think the main thing in this months box that took my interest and surprise was the Super Booster sachet. There were two in the box and I was excited to try it out.
These little sachets are created by Green Smoothie Co and are packed full with nutrients and all you need to do is throw it into a smoothie to give yourself huge additional benefits.

At first I opened it, sniffed it and then re-thought about using it! The smell is intense and very 'green' aka it has wheatgrass, spirulina, barley grass and more in it!
So I was a bit worried about how it would change the taste of my smoothie, but I gave it a crack anyway! Here is what I put into it:
~
Green Smoothie Co - Green is Good Mix - HERE!
x5 Ice Cubes
1/2 Cup Almond Milk
1/2 Cup Coconut Water
1/2 Banana
1 Tablespoon of Almond Butter
1 Scoop of Vanilla Protein
~

It tasted amazing! I honestly couldn't taste the green powder at all, it turned my smoothie a green colour and gave me more energy that afternoon but taste wise I could mostly taste the banana and almond butter - it was so good!
~
So overall I would recommend it, after browsing through their website I am now keen to give the other types of sachets a go!
~
If you'd like to try these out, click HERE!
Have you had these before? Love them? Tried any others that you would recommend? And if your keen to subscribe to the Her Fashion Box click HERE! I have heard from a little birdie that there may be a Fitness Box launching soon! (excited much! Eiip!) If you want to find out more on that click HERE!
See you soon! xoxo

My Essie Nail Polish Collection

Hello there, welcome to Adorn Beauty!
Today I wanted to share with you my Essie nail polishes ~ I became obsessed with these polishes probably about a year ago whilst I watched American and UK girls go on about how amazing the colours were through reading blogs and watching vlogs, how they had good lasting power and of course the cute names for them all. But alas, there were not available in Australia. Then rolled around me going to New York last year and its safe to say I went a touch crazy in the drugstores, I mean come on Australia get your act together and start selling makeup cheaper!
Whilst on that trip I purchased 6 polishes (and wrapped them individually in my clothing when packing to come home to ensure there were no breakages!).
However now I can happily say they have now made their way to the Australian shores and Essie nail polishes are now being sold in Priceline (whoop woo!) (lots of bracket writing going on today isn't there?)
So far since the launch in December I have purchased two - yup you can say it, I'm behaving rather well aren't I?
~
So enough rambles, below are the pictures of the Essie polishes in my collection, I may have also wanted to post this purely because they are pretty....

L-R: Buy Me A Cameo, Sand Tropez, Fifth Avenue, Play Date, Mint Candy Apple, Miami Nice, A Cut Above & Set In Stones

This is with two coats

And there you have it, my collection thus far.
Overall my thoughts on Essie Nail Polish is that the colour range is amazing, all the colours I have work perfectly with two coats, a few actually only really need one coat, the lasting power is about 3-4 days on my nails with minimum chipping and I find I can keep a colour on for a week without too many obvious chips. I would always recommend putting a top coat on for lasting power, and a base coat for more pigmented or darker colours to avoid that annoying stain to the nails.
~
Which colours have you got? Any you recommend to me for my next purchase, I'm sure it won't take me long!
~
You can have a looksie at the colour range available in Priceline or online HERE!
They sell for $16.95 here which is fairly steep for nail polish, however I am an Essie addict so I'm just happy they are now readily available! Also if you sign up for the Priceline email, you'll get notifications of sales and they often do fairly decent ones with 40% off cosmetics a few times a year - that's when I tend to stock up!
~
Anywho, I'm off I go, happy days to you all!

What I Wore: Running

Hello there! Happy New Year to you! I am finally back feeling like myself - aka not a sick mess spending all day moaning in bed.
So to welcome in the new year I have a fitness related post for you. I'm sure many, just like me when thinking about the things they want to change, improve, start and try for a new year always have some sort of 'fitness regime' added to the list.
I am actually grateful that this was my resolution at the start of 2013 and I am still going strong! 2013 was the year I gave myself some kindness and allowed time to make a change, not a week like I have been known to do in the past!
This spurred on a year long health kick which has totally changed my life / lifestyle. I am happy to say I now love working out and the endorphin's it brings, eating healthy is now second nature to me and my body is so use to fresh fruit and veg that I don't often crave anything else!
So of course, giving myself a year to become a healthy human has meant I've rewarded every effort to myself in the form of workout clothes - I mean is there really any better motivation?
This year I will be sharing my fitness and health side of life a bit more, I'm starting to feel like it all makes sense to me so I want to share that knowledge with you all too!
So for today I've got an outfit of the day post for a workout outfit that is perfect for running (and actually what I wore that morning on my run so excuse the sweaty face!)

Any loose tank top is perfect to run in. Just something that is comfortable to you, doesn't get in the way and doesn't rub are the criteria here. I often enjoy a cheeky slogan tank - I dont know why but they please me immensely.
Side note: I was wearing my bright pink kiss my abs tank the other day out running and I was smiling at everyone I passed like I always do but no one was smiling back! Mustn't been too impressed with my bleary tank!

I am a runner who requires music, I find it exponentially harder without it! I use this LJ one and its perfect, has a spot to put the headphones through and doesnt budge the entire time. I also stick my phone in there too so I can snap photos and track my pace and time.

I will often workout in a hat, especially if it is sunny, its a great way to get all of those pesky little hairs out of the way. A trick I like to do when I have nice straight clean hair and dont wish to wash it on a daily basis is to place my hair through the gap at the back of the hat but not use a hair tie. That way I have it up and out of the way, but I dont end up with a huge kink running through it from a hair tie!

These LJ shorts are so FLURO! I love them, I am a big lover of bright workout clothes - may as well make it as fun as possible right!? I had to saturate this photo so much to have the Lorna Jane writing visible.

Hehehe, I had a cat friend for a few weeks which was lovely!
