What I Wore: Wednesday 24.7.13

Hi all, hope your doing well!

Here is another What I Wore post, havent done one in awhile, its been so darn cold I haven't wanted to go outside lol. I'm going to start putting the date in the tittle as well, purely so when I'm an oldie I can see what I was wearing and when, its kinda nice to have a fashion diary in an online picture form.

 The shirt I have is an ode to YSL, and you may have seen these printed shirts going around everywhere at the moment! But the deets on the meaning on this is that the current creative director Hedi Slimane took complete 

creative control of the brand and had the owners sign a 

contract, then Hedi changed the name of the brand from 

Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) to Saint Laurent Paris (SLP). 

Crazy right?! But he did back himself up by stating that YSL 

was a visionary in fashion and he was continuing his vision.

YSL was the first ever high end designer to create suits for 

women and the first to create a Prêt-à-Porter line (ready to 

wear) which was crazy at the time!

So who knows, maybe it will be a positive thing?! What are 

your thoughts on it? For me right now I say long live YSL - it 

just ain't Laurent without Yves!

Coffee Table Books

Hello Everyone, hope you all had a wonderful weeked!

Today's post is all about a few of my favorite coffee table books.

 

 

 This book is a great read, it is full of tips and tricks.

I read this one from front to back when I first got it, and every now and then I like to go back to it and flip through when im lacking in fashion inspiration. My favorite tip in this one was to use a grater to distress your denim, its how i DIYed my boyfriend jeans.

Lauren Conrad: Style - LINK!

 

 

 

This book is jam packed with beautiful pictures of amazing makeup looks, how to guides with step by step to show how to achieve different looks and a guide as to what every girl should have in their make-up kit! Its a great one to have when your just getting interested in makeup, and for when you feel you have the basics down; its perfect to use to experiment with different looks you may not have thought of yourself.

The b.f.f book is purely for cuteness! It has pics of babies and baby animals. Given to me by my bestie, its the perfect book to have on the table to flick through for a little bit of
awww - ness.

Rachael McKEnna: b.f.f - LINK!

 

 

Rachel Zoe's book is highly similar to Lauren Conrad's but each is obviosly through thier own experiences. I like both thier fashion styles, and admire Rachel Zoe for all she has created for herself. Her book does go into more details of her life, growing up around fashion and what inspired her to become a stylist. If you like fashion, you'll like this one.

This book may not suit everyones coffee table preferences, but I am highly interesting in marketing and the use of psychology to get consumers to purchase things, which makes this Gruen Transfer book perfect! It goes through a typical person's day and the amount of advertising that they encounter. Fun to pick up and read a fact from time to time! Fun fact now: 'The Gruen transfer is the moment when consumers respond to "scripted disorientation" cues in the environment - i.e. you go to the shops to buy milk and come out with three new pairs of jeans!'

So there we have it! A few of my favorite books to just have lying around. They are nice to have sitting by your couches, in a book case that is displayed or indeed for on your coffee table. Perfect when having a chat with a friend to flip through.

A Slight Obsession

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

I have a slight addiction to swimwear, there is constantly more bikinis that I am wanting to add to my collection (yes collection). I dont 100% understand my deep set need to own massive amount of swimwear, given that I live in a city without a beach, one that is freezing a good 9 months out of the year. Perhaps this in itself is the reason. I am a beach baby for sure, obsessed with the ocean and warm weather. If I ever have the choice to do anything or go anywhere my first answer will always be the beach. I love nothing more than being tanned, warm, sea salt in my hair and an ice cold drink. A really cute bikini helps too. The below are the ones on my current wishlist, yes just my current list; which in reality is sure to expand.

Nail Inspiration

I have been very indecisive of late about what colour to paint my nails. First world problems hey!

Summer Dreaming

I need to move to a place where it is 25 degrees daily, where a tan is as common as a mobile phone, where I can lie on the beach everyday and wear 100s of bikinis. Ahhh sweet sweet summer, I am dreaming of you daily. Sorry winter, its not you; its me.
