Getaway Part Two

Hello and welcome back!
Here I am today with part two of my getaway! If you have no clue what I'm on about read THIS first!
~
So we started our Saturday with a breakfast recommendation at the Quarterdeck. This place was funky, best way I can describe it would be if the TV show Friends was by the ocean it would be in this café!

Everything was a bit miss matched but all went together somehow. The owner was super friendly, he collects Hawaiian Shirts and wears a different one each day.

The coffee got a thumbs up from me, and the mocha was top notch for the BF, so much so that we ordered seconds as takeaway to leave with!

He had Eggs Benedict and said they were deelish

I had Banana bread with a ricotta spread and local honey - the side of tomato was from Chris's plate, he is not a tomato lover (I know, strange fella!)

After our leisurely breakfast, we grabbed our takeaway coffees and headed for a drive to Tilba, perhaps THE cutest little town. The scenery was just amazing; we both kept saying that we felt like we were in Ireland or something, so green and lush with rolling hills and amazing trees.
~
We stopped in Tilba to get some creamed honey for Mum at the cheese factory and then strolled up and down the main street. My Dad is the biggest sweet tooth so we got him some lollies from this gorgeous old school lolly shop.

This is the petrol station.... I mean.... how dang cute!

Then there was the entire shop dedicated to tea.

This photo cracks me up too much, such a goof. He looks like Woody out of Toy Story to me for some reason!

I then proceed to not take any more photos on my big girl camera for the rest of the day, however we did do a lot! Here are a few from my mobile.
~
We headed out to play golf!

Chris is a big golfer so it was fun to go and play with him, this golf course was absolutely beautiful too - right by the ocean, and one of the holes you have to hit it over the ocean to the other side of the cliff!

Wearing
Hat: Nike
Collared Shirt - Lee
Long Sleeved Top: Nike

This was the hole you had to hit over the water! Chris did really well! I may have hit around it lol. Surprisingly I found that I wasn't shocking at golf, its quite fun to wack a ball and watch it fly through the air! I would recommend as a fun date with a guy if you've never done it before.

After 18 holes and like 4 hours later we finished up and headed back to our hotel to refresh and figure out what to do for dinner. We ended up going to a Thai place in the centre; it was yummy but not overly amazing so I wont say which one it was. A nice night out though.
~
The next day it was time to head home, we took the long way along the ocean and stopped by my favourite café on the coast to have the most epic chicken burger - biggest treat for me I love it! I have been known to take day trips to the coast for this burger haha. And of course I forgot to document it, twas just to excited!
We then had a bit of a chill at the beach pictured below, I decided to be nuts and go swimming in the water! It was FREEZING lol but such a great way to re-set and feel refreshed.

It then poured down in rain so we started the drive home. I always love the drive to the coast and really don't like the drive home. Must be something about getting further away from the beach. Im a beach girl at heart trapped in a city that doesn't have one .... sob sob.
~
Anywho, we had a great little getaway, sometimes its just the thing needed to have a step out of your home town, regular routine and just relax and revive yourself!
~
I hope you enjoyed!!

Adorning in April #16: Running Essentials

Happy Wednesday to you!
I hope you've had a good day thus far. My day was a good one, it always is when I make the conscious effort to think positive and enjoy the smaller things in life.
~
I went for a run after work today around the main lake here in Canberra, it is by far my favourite thing about this city. Being by water is so refreshing, resetting and calming to me; I just love it.
Anyway my current goal with running is to be able to run 5km in under 30 minutes. I had a break from running whilst moving a few months ago so getting back into it was tough! I started out doing 5km in 36min and today I ran it in 30mins and 55 seconds - so close! I'm hoping my next run will be under 30..... wish me luck! After that who knows, 5km in 25mins? I'm really aiming to be able to run with my Dad who averages 5min kms!
~
Below I have a photo of a few of my go to items for running, the essentials I always take.
First up I cannot run without some tunes so the Lorna Jane Arm Band is essential. It hold my iPod and iPhone (iPod for the music and iPhone for the running tracker, yes I separate the two lol). Plus I love the quote on it. Next up I need a way to take my car key or house key with me as often I'm not wearing workout gear with pockets. I have found these Cotton On zip wrist bands to be amazing, they come in a bunch of colours, are cheap and do the job perfectly! They often have them online, but when they don't they are always in store. Lastly, I always wear a good sports bra whilst running, because.. well, you know. I know it may seem I am a crazed Lorna Jane addict (I am, yes) but I do actually own other workout brands! Nike is always a no fail choice, and this one it great because it is reversible!
So there we have it, a few of my must have items for running. I'm thinking I may do a video on this topic to show all the items I find the best for running in particular (i.e. the perfect sock that doesn't get eaten by your runners) let me know if you'd be interested in that!
Have a great evening
xoxo

What I Wore: Running

Hello there! Happy New Year to you! I am finally back feeling like myself - aka not a sick mess spending all day moaning in bed.
So to welcome in the new year I have a fitness related post for you. I'm sure many, just like me when thinking about the things they want to change, improve, start and try for a new year always have some sort of 'fitness regime' added to the list.
I am actually grateful that this was my resolution at the start of 2013 and I am still going strong! 2013 was the year I gave myself some kindness and allowed time to make a change, not a week like I have been known to do in the past!
This spurred on a year long health kick which has totally changed my life / lifestyle. I am happy to say I now love working out and the endorphin's it brings, eating healthy is now second nature to me and my body is so use to fresh fruit and veg that I don't often crave anything else!
So of course, giving myself a year to become a healthy human has meant I've rewarded every effort to myself in the form of workout clothes - I mean is there really any better motivation?
This year I will be sharing my fitness and health side of life a bit more, I'm starting to feel like it all makes sense to me so I want to share that knowledge with you all too!
So for today I've got an outfit of the day post for a workout outfit that is perfect for running (and actually what I wore that morning on my run so excuse the sweaty face!)

Any loose tank top is perfect to run in. Just something that is comfortable to you, doesn't get in the way and doesn't rub are the criteria here. I often enjoy a cheeky slogan tank - I dont know why but they please me immensely.
Side note: I was wearing my bright pink kiss my abs tank the other day out running and I was smiling at everyone I passed like I always do but no one was smiling back! Mustn't been too impressed with my bleary tank!

I am a runner who requires music, I find it exponentially harder without it! I use this LJ one and its perfect, has a spot to put the headphones through and doesnt budge the entire time. I also stick my phone in there too so I can snap photos and track my pace and time.

I will often workout in a hat, especially if it is sunny, its a great way to get all of those pesky little hairs out of the way. A trick I like to do when I have nice straight clean hair and dont wish to wash it on a daily basis is to place my hair through the gap at the back of the hat but not use a hair tie. That way I have it up and out of the way, but I dont end up with a huge kink running through it from a hair tie!

These LJ shorts are so FLURO! I love them, I am a big lover of bright workout clothes - may as well make it as fun as possible right!? I had to saturate this photo so much to have the Lorna Jane writing visible.

Hehehe, I had a cat friend for a few weeks which was lovely!

What I Wore: Saturday - Workout Edition

Hi everyone,
Here is another outfit of the day, I decided for this post I would focus on something I am wearing ..... I'd say 50% of the time. Workout gear.
~
I am an avid exercise goer, if I could wear gym gear to work I'd be one happy girl (goes off and google searches jobs at Lorna Jane).
~
Most weekends I will pick a day to focus on working out and I will stay in my workout gear for the whole day. This is also the day I do those boring errands such as food shopping. I then give myself the other day to get dressed up a bit more, go for coffee dates and shopping for fun stuff like more workout clothes. The cycle is just endless!
~
Enough of my ranting on how much I wear gym clothing, onto the actual photos of gym clothing baha.

So I didn't intend this outfit to become an advert for Nike ~ It just happened I swear. After I took these pics I realised I was representing Nike pretty bad!
My Shoes are are gift from the BF and they suit those days where your not doing too much cardio as they are not designed to be running shoes ~ better suited to weights or toning days. The tights are super comfy and hold everything in just swell! As it is winter in Australia at the moment, the long sleeve Lorna Jane top is a must, it is breathable but keeps you warm. The jacket is a waterproof one which is great when your out and the light drizzle kicks in. And of course a hat, it may be freezing but the sun still shines! (thank goodness!)
